Sonia Anderson and Bronx, her Yorkshire terrier, walk on the paths near her apartment organic in Alexandria, Va. When Sonia Anderson got her first Fitbit step tracker, her poor pooch, Bronx, had no basic idea of all the steps that were coming. These devices – which counts every step Anderson takes and displays those steps on an application – was a Christmas gift from her daughters 2 yrs ago. At the time, Bronx, a Yorkshire terrier, was more youthful and could still manage the excess walks along the paths along the sprawling apartment organic in Alexandria, Va., where Anderson lives.
Anderson was on the mission to time clock 10,a day 000 steps. More recently, as Bronx hit age 13, the dog started coming to dead stops during these long treks, as though to ask: What’s taking place here? Like a great many other people 50 and old, the 63-year-old Anderson has been commandeered by the step-tracker craze that began about a decade back, and her dog can be an unwilling victim. “My Fitbit made me a friend I’d haven’t experienced,” Anderson said.
It may also help her live much longer, according to a recent Harvard University research released in the Journal of the American Medical Association. The scholarly study figured, among older women, as few as 4,400 steps per day helped to lessen mortality rates. With an increase of steps each day, mortality rates decreased, before leveling off at 7,500 steps, the scholarly study found.
